Do you accept Insurance?

I am considered and Out-of-Network provider for insurance companies. Partial reimbursement of my fee will likely be provided by the insurance company for out of network sessions.

Your insurance benefits may reimburse you partially or fully depending on your health insurance benefits or Employee Assistance Program Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:

  • Does my health insurance include  “Mental Health or Behavioral Health  benefits?
  • How much does the insurance cover 100% percent or just part of it?
  • What is my out of pocket deductible and has it been met?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Do i need pre-approval from my primary care physician or my health insurance carrier?
  • Does my FSA or HSA cover counseling services?

Should I worry about confidentiality?

Maintaining your privacy is extremely important to therapists and a legal mandate. It is a part of therapists professional code of ethics.

To make your psychotherapy as effective as possible, you need to be open and honest about your most private thoughts and behaviors. That can be nerve-wracking, but you don’t have to worry about your therapists sharing your secrets with anyone except in the most extreme situations. If you reveal that you plan to hurt yourself or others, for example, therapists are duty-bound to report that to authorities for your own protection and the safety of others. Therapists are also mandated reporters, in certain instances therapists are legally mandated to break confidentiality, and are allowed to break confidentiality, examples include:

  • Suspected child abuse, dependent adult abuse, or elder abuse.
  • If a client threatens serious bodily harm to another person(s).
  • The client is suicidal, or in some other way a danger to self.
  • The therapist is ordered by a court.

Therapists take confidentiality so seriously that they may not even acknowledge that they know you if they bump into you at the supermarket or anywhere else. And it’s OK for you to not say hello either. Your therapists won’t feel bad; he or she will understand that you’re protecting your privacy.

How long will therapy take?

This is a common question and concern with most of my clients. Duration of the therapy depends on the reasons/issues you are seeking therapy for, how recent the problems developed, how much support system you have in your motivation to practice skills outside the session. Some clients may have short term therapy while others continue for a much longer period. If you have concerns regarding the length of therapy or if you have specific therapeutic goals, please discuss them with me and together we can strategize a plan to meet your needs.

Therapy is a PROCESS in which we will work together on your issues and collaborate on solutions. It is not my job to provide advice or tell you what to do, rather my goal is to guide you to get connected with your core self, to get clarity on your situation and provide the necessary support while you make changes at your own pace that is comfortable for you.
